Itinerary | 3 - 6 April 2026
  • DAY 1. Arrowtown | Cardrona Gondola | Wanaka

Friday 3 April. Renowned for its spectacular autumn foliage, Arrowtown is a picture-perfect retreat at this time of year – a blaze of gold, amber, and crimson leaves. Take your time to stretch your legs and soak in the scenery as you explore its historic streets - perhaps a visit to Nadia Lims Royalburn Farm Store, or indulge in a tasting of Central Otago wines, New Zealand-made gins, or whiskies at The Winery.

In the afternoon, we travel over the scenic Crown Range to Cardrona Skifield, where a gondola ride rewards us with panoramic views from the top of the world. Keep your eyes on the sky as it’s practice day for the Warbirds, and we might catch a thrilling sneak peek of what’s to come!

Breathe in the crisp mountain air before we descend into Wanaka, where we check in to the Oakridge Resort – our comfortable base for the next three nights and the perfect place to relax and recharge.

    Breakfast, Dinner.

  • DAY 2. Gold Passes to Warbirds over Wanaka Airshow

Saturday 4 April. The next two days are packed with non-stop, choreographed aerial action featuring some of the world’s finest civilian and military aviators! As Gold Pass holders, you’ll enjoy prime grandstand seating positioned directly in front of the runway — offering unbeatable views of the high-flying spectacle.

Throughout the day, food and beverages will be available for purchase, with complimentary tea and coffee exclusively provided for Gold Pass guests. You’ll also have the unique opportunity to meet the pilots, walk the flightline, and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of this world-class event.

After an exhilarating day at the airshow, we’ll return to the hotel to reset before heading back up the Cardrona Valley for a memorable dinner at the historic Cardrona Hotel — one of New Zealand’s oldest and most iconic country pubs.

    Breakfast, Dinner.

  • DAY 3. Gold Passes to Warbirds over Wanaka Airshow

Sunday 5 April. Missed it yesterday? Enjoy a second day of high-octane aviation excitement. This programme isn’t all about aircrafts either - you want to check out some of the amazing ground displays including a vintage engine display (amongst others) or watch how the Warhorse group bring military history alive through displays and re-enactments of WWII battles. And for those interested into the future of aviation, there is a fabulous exhibit displaying imminent aviation technology and aerospace.

    Breakfast, Dinner.

  • DAY 4. Lake Wanaka Cruise to Stevensons Island

Monday 6 April. Today we celebrate the beauty of Lake Wanaka with a scenic cruise to Stevensons Island. Along the way, soak up the world-famous landscapes — including the striking silhouette of Mount Gold, rising dramatically on the northern skyline.

Upon arrival at the island, a local guide will lead us on a short walk offering stunning views of the Minaret Peaks — a perfect opportunity for those final breathtaking photos. You’ll also learn about the inspiring conservation efforts to protect the endangered Buff Weka, as well as the island’s rich Māori and colonial history.

Returning to Wanaka, we’ll enjoy a relaxed lunch before departing for Queenstown Airport and our onward flights home. We hope you’ve loved your high-octane, alpine adventure with Seemore Tours – where you see more, do more, and have more fun!

    Breakfast.

Warbirds over Wanaka is back!

After a six-year hiatus NZ’s premier airshow will roar into life next Easter in the skies above Wanaka. Around 100 aircraft, from the iconic Spitfire to modern military aircraft backed up with stunning ground displays and pyrotechnics, ensure an unforgettable experience.

Warbirds Over Wanaka is famous for attracting a wide variety of privately owned Warbird aircraft along with their modern-day counterparts from the RNZAF, RAAF, USAF and French Air Force. While the aircraft are the main focus of our event, there are a lot of other displays on the ground which have made this show so successful over the past 30+ years.

The amazing pyrotechnics, the Warhorse re-enactor groups, the aircraft for sale, air force recruiters and other exhibitors will all be back to make 2026 a truly unforgettable experience for everyone!
