Itinerary | 21 - 29 July 2026
DAY 1. Arrive Rarotonga | Muri Beach Club Hotel
Tuesday 21 July (NZ Wednesday 22 July).
This tropical tour begins with our Air New Zealand flight to Rarotonga! We travel back in time as we depart on a Wednesday and arrive on a Tuesday. But with meals provided on the flight, there’s no need to worry about going hungry!
Upon arrival, we collect our luggage and drive around the island to the Muri Beach Club Hotel, our “home” for the next five days. This adults only resort is nestled among tropical landscaped gardens and overlooks the palm-fringed islands of Muri Lagoon, offering the best snorkeling on the island.
Over the next few days, when we’re not touring or snorkeling, you can relax by the pool or enjoy cocktails from the resort’s beachfront deck. Once settled, we’ll meet at the bar in the late afternoon for a welcome drink, followed by dinner together at the resort’s own restaurant.
Please note, that with the diverse range of food on the islands we have only included some meals so you have the freedom of menu choices. Breakfast is included on all days.
Air New Zealand Inflight meal incuded.
DAY 2. Around Island Orientation
Wednesday 22 July.
Start your morning with a walk along the beach, or simply relax with a book.
Optional Activity: This morning a local guide will pick you up for a round-island orientation tour of Rarotonga. You’ll quickly notice that this island has no traffic lights, no McDonald’s, and no buildings taller than the highest coconut tree! Plus, it takes just 45 minutes to drive around the entire island. Your guide has arranged a tropical lunch before you head back to the resort, giving you plenty of time to catch up with those who didn’t do the tour and to enjoy the resort and lagoon in the afternoon.
In the evening, we stroll down to the Muri Night Markets, where you can choose from a variety of dishes offered by the many food vendors.
Breakfast.
DAY 3. Lagoon Tour, Progressive Dinner with Locals
Thursday 23 July.
Contemplate your day while wading through the shores of the lagoon and observing the colourful coral between the atolls.
Optional Activity: Today, you’ll board a glass-bottom boat for a cruise around Muri Lagoon. While on board, you’ll see an array of colourful fish and marine life, including giant clams, giant trevally, angelfish, butterflyfish, convict surgeonfish, and triggerfish. If you’re lucky, you might even spot a turtle! You’ll have the chance to snorkel, all while listening to stories of the island’s past and present, and enjoying entertainment provided by the crew. Afterwards, you’ll disembark for a fresh fish BBQ lunch and some lively entertainment from the crew.
Optional Activity: For dinner tonight, savor a progressive three-course meal with locals, dining at three different locations. As you move through each course, you’ll be serenaded by the sounds of local ukuleles, guitars, and a small string band. You’ll also meet our hosts and experience the warm hospitality of the island.

Explore gardens filled with fruits, vegetables, herbs, and medicinal plants, all grown naturally. Learn from locals how they care for the land, promote biodiversity, and grow healthy food.
Then it’s up, up and away as we board our flight to the island atoll of Aitutaki. Just 40 minutes from Rarotonga, the lagoon views are breathtaking and it’s no wonder Aitutaki is considered one of the most beautiful places in the world!
We arrive in the early evening, where our hotel representative greets us and transfers us to Resort Tava’e, our home for four nights. This intimate, family-run resort sits on the bluest lagoon of the Cook Islands, with palm trees, deserted white sand beaches, and lush tropical gardens.
