This evening, we come together for a special farewell aboard Darrell’s Sunset Dinner Cruise. Cruising gently through the sheltered waters of the bay, we watch as the sky transforms into hues of gold and pink over the surrounding islands. Celebrated for his bold colours, organic forms and philosophy of harmony between nature and design, Hundertwasser left a remarkable creative legacy in the Far North. During our visit, we explore the property, reflect on his work, and pay our respects at his final resting place.

Arriving back in Auckland, we share our final farewells after a wonderful eight days exploring the very best of Northland.

Day 3 - Ikarus Coffee Farm Visit

On the hills above Doubtless Bay in the Far North live New Zealand’s first commercial coffee growers – Rob and Carol Schluter. Establishing the world’s southernmost coffee farm has had its challenges – luckily its owners are full of beans.

“We became fascinated by the magic and mystique of coffee,” says Rob. “In 2012 we decided to get hands-on with picking and processing the whole crop to find out what we could do with it. We eventually had about 3kg of roasted coffee and, with really positive feedback, we got serious and committed to establishing a viable coffee farm.”
